Your self-talk determines your self-worth
We are humbled and thankful for all the positive feedback we receive daily! However……
Here are a few statements that have been COMMUNICATED to me in the last 12 months:
“Your class environment is chaos and is impossible to learn in” – Parent of a former student
“You are obviously not a people person.” – Parent of a former student
“What impact on the community? There is nothing good about what you are doing here” – Parent of a former student
“It’s all about the money!” – Parent’s response when we issued them a FULL refund 2 weeks into summer camp due to behavior, along with a referral to another summer camp.
“You will never amount to anything” – My 4th-grade teacher
(My personal Favorite)
Without emotional strength, these statements could be crushing….
Instead of repeating these kinds of statements to myself in my head, I determined they were NOT from a credible source and moved on.
For every 100 positive responses, you will get 2-3 negatives responses. It’s just math. Don’t take it personally.
How often do we let those 2-3 unqualified opinions drown out the other 100 in our lives?
Have you seen how many people walk around with low self-esteem?
If they don’t even love and respect themselves, how could they ever possibly love and respect you?
With awareness, you will see these opinions for what they are:
Hurt, frustrated, miserable, and angry people lashing out at anything and anyone
These people don’t get to write your story.
They don’t deserve a space in your thoughts and self-talk.
Respect them (even pity) and wish them the best as you move on
You don’t get to choose how or what others COMMUNICATE towards you.
But you get to choose how YOU communicate with YOURSELF
It’s a CHOICE to focus on the positive.
And it’s often a very good choice!
Make a wise choice today!
